Rapid chess tournaments in and around Tokyo 8

Rapid chess, with somewhere between ten minutes and an hour on each clock, fits a whole tournament into one or two days. At Kyurian in Ōimachi the federation holds the Japan Rapid Chess Championship and the Japan Team Chess Championship in the autumn, the cadet championship for under-twelves in April, Level-Up tournaments several times a year and a Christmas Chess Party in December.

Clubs add their own. Akabane Chess Club plays a numbered FIDE rapid series in Kita ward halls, Chiba Chess Club holds the numbered Chiba Chess Festa in Kashiwa, open to anyone, and the summer kids' tournament in Yoyogi is a rapid event too. The time control of each event is on its notice, linked from the card.
