Thursday is the one weekday evening when Chess Center UENO in Kita-Ueno is open, from five in the afternoon until ten at night, with last entry at half past nine. A ticket for the day is bought in advance on the venue's ticket page, and the staff will give a game to a visitor who comes alone.
Two university circles also play on Thursdays. ChessTech, the chess club of Science Tokyo, meets on Thursday and Friday at the Ōokayama campus in Meguro, and the Keio University Chess Club plays after fifth period on Monday and Thursday at the Hiyoshi campus in Yokohama. Both are listed by the federation, and both say visitors are welcome.
