Junior chess tournaments in Tokyo 3

For young players the Tokyo year has two fixed points. In early April the Japan Chess Federation plays the Japan Youth Chess Championship, for members under eighteen, and the Japan Cadets Chess Championship, for members under twelve, on the same weekend at Kyurian, the Shinagawa ward public hall in Ōimachi. Both are rated, and the cadet event is played at a rapid time control.

In the summer holidays the federation holds the Summer Kids Chess Tournament at the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center in Yoyogi, Shibuya, on a single day in late August, with an entry fee printed on its notice. Children also play in open events such as the Level-Up tournaments and club rapids. Entry conditions and age limits are on each card.
